About the Artist, Jacqueline Quinn

When I was in my 20s I studied for a degree in Design… I was already a social worker, later I taught social workers, then trained as a psychotherapist, then taught counsellors…I enjoyed all these things, but when I turned 50 I thought why aren’t I doing the thing I started doing, which I also loved?

I started making artwork, made more and eventually started selling artwork though galleries and exhibitions.

For a while I had both a therapy practice and an art practice, which felt like a great balance.

Covid happened and I got older, and life threw some curveballs, and making art took a back seat.

I guess at 70 I’m starting again.

Recurring images throughout my work are the moon, the land, planets and sacred symbols which are embedded in the landscape of my northern home.

Cup and ring marks, ancient stones and hillforts.

Over time I have worked in watercolour, acrylic and printmaking, always making one off, original pieces which are unrepeatable and of the moment.
